Open role

Transcript Quality Analyst (English Transcripts)

Review transcript quality issues with care, evidence, and clear judgment across audio and text.

Remote

We are looking for detail-oriented independent contractors to review transcript quality issues using an online review platform and transcript editor.

In this role, you will evaluate auto-detected transcript issues, compare them against the transcript and source audio, determine whether each issue is valid, and apply or document corrections when appropriate.

This role is ideal for someone who is careful, consistent, comfortable working with audio and text, and able to make evidence-based quality decisions without guessing.

Start is ASAP. The schedule is flexible, with agreed turnaround expectations.

Compensation is paid per task; the rate is shared before assignment.

This is an independent contractor opportunity. Contractors are responsible for their own equipment, work environment, taxes, and applicable obligations. Work availability may vary based on project needs, and continued engagement depends on quality, reliability, and available review volume.

What you'll do

  • Review assigned transcript files and auto-detected transcript issues.
  • Compare flagged text against surrounding transcript context and source audio.
  • Determine whether each detected issue is valid, invalid, or uncertain.
  • Confirm whether suggested corrections are accurate.
  • Apply confirmed transcript corrections in the transcript editor when appropriate.
  • Document decisions clearly, especially when rejecting a detected issue or marking a case as uncertain.
  • Identify and log clear transcript errors that were not auto-detected.
  • Complete files only after all required review steps and quality checks are finished.
  • Route uncertain cases, speaker-related issues, or blocked files for additional review.
  • Follow provided quality standards, style guidance, and workflow instructions.
  • Communicate blockers clearly, including access issues, assignment mismatches, unclear audio, or incomplete files.

Must have

  • Strong English reading and listening comprehension.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Comfortable reviewing audio and written transcripts side by side.
  • Good judgment when evaluating names, terms, speaker wording, and context.
  • Ability to follow detailed written instructions.
  • Reliable internet connection and access to a computer.
  • Comfortable using web-based tools and online work platforms.
  • Able to make decisions based on audio, transcript context, and available source research rather than guessing.
  • Willing to mark unclear cases for additional review instead of forcing a correction.

Nice to have

  • Prior experience in transcription, transcript QA, editing, data review, content quality, localization QA, or audio review.
  • Experience writing concise, specific notes that another reviewer or manager can act on.
  • Comfort working independently within agreed turnaround expectations.
